Fahmi Rizwansyah says:
(ANTARA News) - The attorney general should not ban the book on Legacy of Ashes; The history of CIA, on the involvement of former foreign minister Adam Malik in the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency).
The book was written by Tim Weiner, a New York Journalist who won a Pulitzer Prize.
"I think the attorney general should not ban the book too soon, because now we can open and study the 25-35 years old US documents," the House Commission 1 member, Permadi SH of the Indonesian Democratic Struggle Party (PDIP) said here Tuesday.
"A hero sometimes cannot maintain his life pattern, like Bung Karno, who doesn`t appreciate his struggle". But in the end he became involved in the PKI (Indonesian Communism Party), and Suharto where he was dragged down with his corruption cases," he said.
He also said that we do not have to say anything in a hurry, let the people judge, please read the book first for its objectivity, his family can always complain to the writer.
In today`s democratic era, banning a book is no longer valid, Permadi said.
When questioned about Adam Malik`s CIA involvement he said that we cannot say for sure that he was involved in the CIA, allow this matter to roll and we haven`t learn the US documents yet.
